Founded in 2002 in New York, the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting contemporary art through diversity, experimentation, and the cultivation of new artistic voices. As a central event of Miami Art Week, NADA Miami has established itself as one of the most anticipated international art fairs, bringing together galleries, nonprofits, and exhibition spaces from around the world. Dohing Art joins the fair this year as a first-time participating gallery.
Dohing Art (Director: Seunghee Chung) will present two artists whose practices embody the fair’s commitment to experimentation and contemporary sensibility: Bárbara Alegre and Seoyeon Kim, both of whom have maintained an ongoing collaborative relationship with the gallery.
Bárbara Alegre (b. 1976, Spain) is a Barcelona-based artist who received her MFA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London. She has exhibited extensively across Europe and, earlier this year, participated in NADA New York with Dohing Art, expanding her presence in the North American art scene. Alegre’s work envelops the complexities of the world in a language of warmth, harmony, and quiet balance. By interweaving elements of nature and the human condition, her paintings explore interconnectedness and the possibility of coexistence, offering viewers a contemplative space grounded in empathy and gentle solidarity.
Seoyeon Kim (b. 2000, South Korea) is a contemporary artist who has garnered significant attention in Korea through exhibitions and art fairs. Her practice transforms mass-produced figurines, kitsch commercial imagery, and other digital ephemera—often sourced from resale platforms and online image archives—into strangely reverent, symbolically charged icons. Through a distinctive painterly process, these anonymous objects become sites of emotional projection, revealing how desire is shaped within an image-saturated era. Kim’s work, situated between sentiment and absurdity, expands the notion of “surface” into a potent space of mediation and psychological resonance. Building on her growing recognition in Korea, Kim will further extend her presence onto the international stage through NADA Miami 2025.

NADA(New Art Dealers Alliance)는 2002년 뉴욕에서 설립된 비영리 단체로, 동시대 미술의 다양성과 실험성을 기반으로 새로운 목소리를 발굴하고 지원해왔다. 마이애미 아트위크 기간에 개최되는 NADA Miami는 국제 갤러리들이 주목하는 주요 아트페어로 자리매김했으며, 올해 역시 여러 국가의 갤러리, 비영리 기관, 전시 공간 등이 참여한다. 도잉아트는 올해 처음으로 NADA Miami에 참가하는 갤러리로 소개된다.
도잉아트(대표 정승희)는 NADA가 지향하는 미학적 실험성과 동시대적 감각을 반영하는 두 명의 작가를 선보인다. 바로 바바라 알레그레(Bárbara Alegre)와 김서연(Seoyeon Kim)으로, 두 작가 모두 도잉아트와 긴밀한 협업을 이어오고 있다.
바바라 알레그레는 1976년생 스페인 작가로, 바르셀로나를 기반으로 활동하고 있다. 런던 왕립예술학교(Royal College of Art)에서 회화 석사 과정을 마친 이후 유럽 전역에서 활발한 전시 활동을 이어왔으며, 올해 NADA New York에도 도잉아트와 함께 참여하며 북미에서의 활동을 확장하고 있다. 알레그레의 작업은 혼란스러운 세계를 다정함과 평온으로 감싸는 깊이 있는 조형 언어를 보여준다. 자연과 인간의 요소를 교차시키며 존재의 연결성과 공존의 가능성을 탐구하는 작가의 작품은 관객에게 회복과 사색의 공간을 제공하며 따뜻한 연대의 메시지를 전한다.
김서연은 2000년생 한국 작가로, 국내 전시와 아트페어를 통해 주목받고 있는 동시대 작가이다. 중고 플랫폼과 온라인 이미지 저장소에서 수집한 대량생산 오브제와 키치적 상업 이미지를 회화적으로 재해석하며, 익명적 사물들을 기묘한 숭고함을 지닌 상징적 대상으로 변모시킨다. 감상성과 부조리가 교차하는 화면은 이미지 과잉 시대의 욕망과 정서적 투사를 섬세하게 드러내고, ‘표면’을 하나의 감정적 매개 공간으로 확장한다. 김서연은 국내에서 주목받아 온 활동을 기반으로, 이번 NADA Miami 2025를 통해 국제 무대에서도 존재감을 넓혀갈 예정이다.
