Dohing Art will participate in NADA New York 2026, held from May 13 to 17 at the Starrett-Lehigh Building in Chelsea, New York. At this year’s fair, Dohing Art will present a solo booth centered on the work of Barbara Alegre. Barbara Alegre (b. 1976, Barcelona, Spain) is an artist who, after completing her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in London, has been actively exhibiting across Europe. In 2025, she expanded her international presence through consecutive participation in major art fairs such as NADA New York and NADA Miami, continuing to develop her own distinct visual language within contemporary painting. At this year’s NADA New York, she will present an expanded body of work through a solo booth with Dohing Art.
Alegre’s work embodies a deeply nuanced visual language that envelops a chaotic world with tenderness and calm. By interweaving elements of nature and humanity, her practice explores the interconnectedness of existence and the possibilities of coexistence. Her works offer viewers a space for reflection and recovery, conveying a message of warmth and solidarity.
For this presentation, Dohing Art has carefully selected a group of Alegre’s works to provide an in-depth view of her artistic practice. Through intuitive forms and vibrant colors, Alegre visualizes personal narratives and inner experiences, while the layered surfaces and material textures in her paintings reveal the accumulation of emotion and time.
Her work also establishes a sense of order through repetition and arrangement over freely flowing colors and forms, creating a dynamic balance within the picture plane. This approach reflects an expanded language of contemporary painting while resonating with the experimental spirit that NADA New York seeks to promote.
